Mitt...Get Off FP...it's not going to help you.

There is very little, if any at all, upside for Mitt Romney when he criticizes President Obama on foreign policy issues.  First, I think most of middle-America isn't that fired up about BHO's FP, especially compared to the standard view of how poorly President Bush did.  Second, MR doesn't have any foreign policy experience, at all.  One could point out that neither did candidate Obama in 2008...but that's no longer true.  It's not like MR can point to his own FP successes and compare them to a guy who gets credit for killing OBL on his watch.  Finally, and this is probably the most important point, every second spent focusing on foreign policy issues takes time away from President Obama's achilles heel...the economy.   While everybody understands how lousy the economy is, MR has to complete the picture by establishing 2 points;
      1.  It's this bad because of the policies and leadership (or lack of) of President Obama
      2.  I have better ideas and here they are...with some details.

So, IMHO, here's the script Mitt needs to own...
"It's clear that President Obama and I disagree on a number of fundamental issues, both foreign and domestic, and I will continue to speak out on important economic and social policies.  However, I'd like us all to return to a time when domestic politics ended at the waters edge.   I will not second guess the President of the United States during these chaotic foreign policy times.  But I will challenge every responsible reporter to review the behavior of democrats when President Bush was in office, including then Senators Obama, Clinton and Reid, and evaluate how well they adhered to the 'waters edge' philosophy.  Now I'd like to discuss another American tragedy...our 34,000,000 under or unemployed fellow citizens...."
